Would You Rather - Book Lovers version

I saw this book tag at at Zezee With Books, who got it from Kristen Craves Books. My daughter often challenges me with Would You Rather questions and I'm really good at it, so I’ll give this a go.

Would you rather have a friend who loses your books or one who dog-ears them?
I've had a friend lose a book. I’ll give them credit, they tried to replace it, only the version they got was not as nice as the version I loaned. I’ve never had one returned dog eared and I think I would find that pretty annoying – so I’m going with that.

Would you rather secretly love a book everyone else hates or secretly hate a book everyone else loves?
I can’t imagine myself being secretive about either. There are a few books that LOTS of people love, that I sort of hate. Wuthering Heights comes to mind. It doesn’t bother me to admit it. I guess it bothers me just a bit more if I love something and others hate it. Of Mice and Men is an example. But it truly doesn’t bother me much.

Would you rather be stuck on a very long plane or train ride without a book?
Definitely the train. I’d be more amused watching the country roll by, vs clouds and tiny lights on the ground.

Would you rather have dinner with your favorite author or your favorite character?
It would depend on what’s for dinner. If I was having tomatoes, sausages, nice crispy bacon with Frodo vs brussel sprouts with Tolkien I’d go with Frodo. But, all things equal, probably C.S. Lewis.

Would you rather date a character you have a crush on or your crush from real life?
Assuming this was back when I was single…real life crush, and that would be now my wife. (I said I was good at this.)

Would you rather have your favorite book turned into a movie or your favorite movie turned into a book?
Definitely book to movie. There’s a few that haven’t been done. The Catcher in the Rye – it would be tricky, but the right director could do it. I’d also like to see Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison and Without Remorse by Tom Clancy made into film. Oh and, I'd like to see a good rendition of Lord of the Flies. It's been done, just hasn't been done well.

Would you rather read a book with an annoying cliffhanger or one where your favorite character is killed off?
Probably the cliffhanger

Would you rather lose the ability to read any new books or the ability to reread books you’ve already read?
I don’t reread a lot, though I’ve learned some books are better second time around, so I do it more than I used to, but still if I had to give up one…it’d be rereads.

Would you rather live in a library or a bookstore?
Well, lots of bookstores now have Starbucks, so I’m going with bookstore.

Would you rather lose your place or get a paper cut every time you read a book?
Paper Cut – NOT! I’ll find my place eventually.
\

Would you rather have to always read in the dark or always read books with tiny text?
Tiny text I guess. Too much reading in the dark, and I think I could lose ability to do either.

Would you rather read by a fireplace or on the beach?
Definitely fireplace, with some Malbec, extra sharp cheddar, soundtrack of Little Women. That’s it.

Tag you’re it.

  1. Wow, what a great tag game. I think I'll give it some thought and have a go at this one. But straight away, I think I agree with you about plane trips, cliffhangers and paper cuts. Thanks for passing this one on.
