CLASSICS CLUB SPIN #26

It is time for the 26th edition of the Classics Club Spin – List 20 books from my Classics Club TBR, the moderators will pick a random number between 1 - 20, and I have until May 31, 2021 to read the corresponding book.

I usually have one or two I’m hoping for, but not this time. I’ll be happy with whatever I get. I did something different this time. I came up with my list before looking at anyone else’s but where I found some titles in common, I tied mine to the same number – sort of luck of the draw read-along. (Someone else has done this before – Either Brona or Cleo?)

Also – I’m getting lazy. I didn’t even put the authors, but you know most of these.

Cheers

  1. Lots of nice Dickens there. Dombey and Son is probably my favorite of those, but Our Mutual Friend is awfully good, too.

The Recognitions--I haven't read it--would make an ambitious month, though, I think!

  2. Oooh lots of Dickens! Oliver Twist is a favorite, loved Little Dorrit, and I also really liked Barnaby Rudge, which hardly anyone reads anymore. I also love Rebecca and Murder on the Orient Express. Good luck with the spin!

  3. Lots of Dickens, I see! None I've read, yet (although my dad read me Oliver Twist when I was little--good choice). Murder on the Orient Express is the only mystery I've read more than once--such a classic. Enjoy!

  4. I absolutely love Dickens. I am just reading the last one of my TBR novels by Dickens, The Old Curiosity Shop. Will have to stock up again because there are still a few on my wishlist.

However, wouldn't it be fun if we got #13 and could stereo-read about the Orient Express? LOL

Thank you for visiting my list earlier.

    1. The Old Curiosity Shop was not one of my favorite Dickens, but that's a high bar, I still enjoyed it. Cheers!

    2. I have just finished it and you have put my thoughts into words. It's definitely not my favourite, that's still David Copperfield but I have yet to read a book by Charles Dickens I don't enjoy.

  6. I think it's a fabulous way to do a group read. I bet many of us have titles common to all our lists.

  7. I'm going to go out on a limb and vote for The Worm Ourboros. Have a great spin, Joseph!

    1. That could be one I'm hoping for...mostly because I know almost nothing about it...love to start a book that way.

  8. Oh I like the idea of doing a luck of the draw read along. That sounds like a lot of fun for sure.

If the spin lands on number 3 for you, you'll read one of my favorites! I won't mind to read number 3 on my list either.

    1. Well I'm way overdue to get to du Maurier...so #3 would be fine with me. Elza may not approve of your #3 though.
