Hmmm…probably
cheating to say Star Wars: Episode VII: The Force Awakens as #1. I’m sure there’s
a fan fiction book or something, so I’ll stick with Star Wars as #1 regardless.

the Heart of the Sea – Based on the true story of the whaling ship Essex, which
was the inspiration for Melville’s Moby Dick. In theaters next month.
Most
of the rest of these are wish list. As far as I know they have not been
produced and no one is planning on producing a film.
#3 If
on a Winter’s Night a Traveler – This would be a challenging to portray
faithfully in film, but I’m sure someone could do it.

There are several movie versions of The Brothers Karamazof, including one from 1958 that I really want to see. It has Yul Brynner, Lee J. Cobb, Richard Basehart, and William Shatner! How is it I haven't seen that yet?

ReplyDeleteI can hardly imagine One Hundred Year's of Solitude as a film. It would probably be rated R; or am I be too conservative? The story reminded me of a Frida Khalo painting.
In the Heart of the Sea is supposed to open 12/11/2015. I actually saw a trailer in the theater so I think it's pretty firm. Looks awesome (and I'm not a fan of Moby Dick).
DeleteI'm certain if they did 100 Years faithfully it would have to be R rated, but I believe much of that could be left out and still get the major theme. I think a PG-13 version could still be worth watching. Of course, the R scenes are the very things many directors would want to be sure to keep.
