A Literary Christmas 2018
brought to you by In the Bookcase
The Rules are simple – pick your Christmas reads for 2018, write a blog post about them, and link back to In the Bookcase.
I honor of the Magi, who brought the Christ child three gifts, I have read three Christmas tales each of the past three years. In continuing that tradition, this year I will be reading:
The Beggar Boy at Christ’s Christmas Tree by Dostoevsky
The Signal Man by Charles Dickens
I'll check it out! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYou're quite welcome :)
DeleteWooohooooo!!!! So glad you could join the challenge again this year. I love your selections; I don't think I've even heard of The Signal Man before?? but I'm already looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it (and the others, of course).
ReplyDeleteMerry reading!!

I hadn't heard of Signal Man either. Looking forward to it.
DeleteThat Dostoyevsky looks intriguing - not come across that one! And the Signal man - I enjoyed that. And we'll see how we both get on with Capote :)
ReplyDeleteGood...we'll compare notes.
DeleteCapote’s A Christmas Memory is one of my absolute favorites of the season. I might Dostoyevsky’s story—I haven’t read much by him, so I’m intrigued.
ReplyDeleteGood to know. It's a little hard for me to imagine Capote writing a touching Christmas story...so I'm ready to be surprised.
DeleteOh my goodness, these are three GREAT choices! And you've introduced me to a Dostoyevsky that I hadn't even heard of. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on them!
ReplyDeleteIt's also sometimes called The Heavenly Christmas Tree.
DeleteI haven’t heard of the Dostoevsky book either. Heart picks. I saw the linkup a little while ago but I’m still trying to finish my Back to the Classics list...I’m tempted though.
ReplyDeleteMy very last book for Back to the Classics was a bit of a tome, and I wasn't sure I was going to finish in times A Literary Christmas. Be nice to have you join us.
DeleteThat was meant to be ‘great picks.’
ReplyDeleteHow nice that you choose three books to honour the Magi. I haven't heard of those stories before but that's the nice thing about this community of bookish bloggers, I am always learning new things :)
ReplyDeleteOh yes, goodness how my TBR grows from reading other book bloggers.
