I’m hoping for The Code of the Woosters—obviously! Any of the three Sci-Fi would be OK too. Not hoping for anything loooong, so not Barnaby Rudge. I love Dickens, just not in the mood for a tome right now. Cheers!
I thought The Power and the Glory was one of Greene's best--but it's not particularly short. The Mask of Dimitrios is fun and decently short!
ReplyDeleteGood to know. I've only read The Heat of the Matter by Greene and didn't love it. Thanks for the feedback.
DeleteI've read The Power and the Glory and The Godfather. We read the latter for our bookclub several years ago and I ended up enjoying it far more than I expected to.
ReplyDeleteThe Godfather film, is considered by many to be better than the book. A very rare exception in that regard. I do greatly admire the film, so perhaps I can compare after this spin.
DeleteSo many great books and you've managed to gather books from all genres! I'd like to read Azimov, Fleming or Serrailler. Carmilla by Le Fanu was short and super spooky...loved it!
ReplyDeleteHmmm piqued my interest in Carmilla now. Cheers.
DeleteGood chocies. The Long Winter!! [If you get it then read The Children's Blizzard by David Laskin [nonfiction]. Casino Royale--then watch the David Niven spoof movie! lol. I hope you enjoy whatever you get in the spin. Here is my list, if you are interested: https://hopewellslibraryoflife.wordpress.com/2026/05/14/classics-club-spin-44-ccspin/
ReplyDeleteI've seen the Niven renditio.i love, Niven and love to be a know it all when people forget to name him when citing who has played Bond. Thanks for the feedback.
DeleteI was so old before I finally read Anne of Green Gables---I wish I had read it when I was an obnoxious teen. I just reread The Long Winter which I first read during the pandemic. The pandemic did not feel so bad when set against The Long Winter. Good luck with the spin.
ReplyDeleteI've only read The Blue Castle by LMM, so I really need to get to her most famous work. Enjoy you spin.
