The Pickwick Papers - 180th Anniversary Read-Along

Charles Dickens is one of my favorite Authors; he has been since I read A Tale of Two Cities in high school. He is a favorite, but I have not read a lot of Dickens, so far just: A Tale of Two Cities, David Copperfield, Great Expectations, Oliver Twist, and A Christmas Carol. I am now about to begin a 20 month read along of The Pickwick Papers.

Why 20 months? I’m so glad you asked. Like most of Dickens novels, it was originally published serially. This read along will be read in installments, similar to the manner in which the original readers had to wait anxiously for the next portion (two/three chapters). This month, March 2016 also marks the 180th anniversary of the first published installment, so this is in keeping with the original schedule. Please read more about this brilliant read along at the host site: Behold the Stars.

  1. I'm really glad that you're joining us, Joseph. It's going to be a unique experience! I tried reading it once before and only made it halfway through so I'm excited to have this event to give me the push to finish.

  2. Interesting to have a 19 month readalong. I might end up joining - though I'm not sure where my copy of the book is. I suppose I could pick it up from Gutenberg Press. Dickens is one of my favorite books as well.
