  2. Nice list--lots of different titles from other lists. Count of Monte Cristo is one I'm hoping to get to. I'm reading Les Mes right now using Serial Reader. I think I'll do Count on that app as well.
    Here's my list https://hopewellslibraryoflife.wordpress.com/2016/10/04/top-10-bad-guys-and-gals/

  3. The only ones I know are Sauron and Danglars, but nice list, I like how you culled it from classics.

  4. Haha I love that "the man" is one of your villains.Nurse Ratched is a pretty evil villain, I agree. Being in a power position over people and abusing it the way that she does for her own power and pleasure- that's a villain for sure. I like that all of your examples are from classics. Great reads!

    1. Thanks Katie...yeah "the man" not terribly different from one of your villains.

  5. What an interesting concept and list! I am envious of the range of your reading. If I were participating in the concept and list-making, I think I would be choosing mostly from the world of drama, and -- of course -- Shakespeare's villains would dominate my list. However, in my current reading focus -- http://theabbessofandalusia.blogspot.com/ -- I would have to give some thought to "villains" in Flannery O'Connor's fiction, especially since some of her protagonists are their own worst enemies. But I will still give it some thought. Thanks for your posting. It is a great exercise.

  6. Awesome list! Yes, they don't come much worse than Caligula--his reputation is well-deserved. I've always loathed Uriah Heep, with his hand-wringing, although Quilp from Old Curiosity Shop is pretty vile as well. Lots of Dickens villains out there actually. Glad to see you put Heathcliff in the right camp--amazing how people insist he is a Romantic hero!

  7. Indeed Dickens creates easily detestable villains.
