Classics Club Spin #22

Classics Club Spin #22

It is time for the 22nd edition of the Classics Club Spin – List 20 books from my CC TBR, by December 22; the mods then pick a random number, and I have until January 31, 2020 to read the corresponding book.

But I’ve only got 13 books left on my Classics Club list so I will list some of them twice. I used a random number generator to rank them, and determine which appear twice. My list:

1. Fahrenheit 451
2. Riders of the Purple Sage
3. If on a Winter’s Night a Traveler
4. Nicholas Nickleby
5. Fahrenheit 451
6. The Tale of Genji
7. Riders of the Purple Sage
8. The Tale of Genji
9. Cry the Beloved Country
10. At Swim Two-Birds
11. Jude the Obscure
12. Cry the Beloved Country
14. At Swim Two-Birds
15. Where the Red Fern Grows
16. The Sea, the Sea
17. Nicholas Nickleby
18. The Castle of Otranto
19. The Sea, the Sea
20. Greenmantle

  1. I'm a little afraid of At Swim Two-Birds, so in a way I hope you get that & tell me what it's like. But I do love If On A Winter's Night A Traveler.

    1. I don't really know what to expect from it either.

  2. I read The Sea The Sea earlier on this year with Liz. I'm glad I had some Iris Murdoch practice before tackling this one.
Also read Calvino many, many years ago & remember almost nothing about it!
Congrats on only having 13 books to go on your cc list by the way.

  3. I do hope you get #3. Calvino is amazing, and especially this book. 3 would be o for me too, though I would prefer to land on a Japanese title, for time management reasons!!. see here https://wordsandpeace.com/2019/12/18/the-classics-club-the-classics-spin-22/

  4. Oh, Jude the Obscure....you probably are hoping it's not Hardy, huh? I have to admit, that one provokes!

    1. I wasn't really wishing against Hardy. I'm going to tackle him eventually. Happy with Zen and Motorcycles though. Merry Christmas Ruth! May you and yours have a Blessed New Year.
