Classics Club Spin #21

Classics Club Spin #21

It is time for the 21stedition of the Classics Club Spin – List 20 books from my CC TBR, by September 23, the mods then pick a random number, and I have until October 31 to read the corresponding book.

‘cept I’m gonna cheat. That really shouldn’t surprise you. I cheat on most memes, challenges, double dog-dares, and quests. For reasons that I won’t go into (cuz it would be boring and no one cares), I’m only going to list 10 books. I used a random number generator to pick their order. If the chosen spin number is one of my BLANKS, I exempt myself from the Spin, without forfeiting the associated cash prize.

  1. Well, I for one hope you get a book! But if things are hectic maybe it can be something pleasant and short like Jonathan Livingston Seagull or A Christmas Carol...

    1. Most are quite short for that very reason. I already have the R.I.P going on...hoping a may be able to double up one of those for this. ;)

  2. Ohh, this is a good cheat! I will have to remember this. I want to participate, but know it will be very tight with my schedule. Why not let fate decide? Great Idea...I might have to adjust me list now... :D

  3. I'm going to combine my spin books with #AusReadingMonth this year to make my life easier...do what you gotta do, I say :-)

But I also wish you a book :-)

    1. I'm gonna start feeling guilty if I inspire others to cheat :)

  5. Nothing wrong with cheating occasionally. I love your list.

  6. The Blanks are a creative way to protect your time! I’ve also seen someone list multiple times the book they really want to read! I listed most of the short ones from my CC list!

  7. Great approach--load the dice! You have some great books there, although it will be interesting how you respond to Jonathan Livingston Seagull. I read it as a 13 year old, and haven't felt the urge to reread :)

    1. That's about how old I was, and I didn't like it, but I don't expect I really got the point. I'm not sure how I'm going to feel this time, but I'm looking forward to it.

  9. Ha! I tend to "cheat" by reading the ones I don't ever want in a spin when Spins aren't happening. And then when a spin doesn't happen, I don't add those titles in. Just multiples of others!

Really though, I ADORE the spins, but they always seem to happen at the worst possible time! No chunksters for me! (I cheated by adding a book that I'm mostly finished with FIVE times on the list AND by adding a ton of books from other challenges rather than the other doorstops that are actually on my list.)

    1. Thanks Allison...and I don't think listing a book that you can use on more than one challenge is cheating; it's just efficient. :)
