Top Ten Tuesday (July 12, 2016)

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish

July 12: Ten Facts About Me (bookish or otherwise)

Oh serendipity. I can kill two birds with one stone.

You may or may not be aware that Dos Equis is looking for a new “most interesting man in the world” because the old one, Jonathan Goldsmith, has departed Earth forever on a one way trip to Mars.

So, I am submitting myself to the folks at Dos Equis as a candidate for the new most interesting man in the world. I had just whittled down my interestingness to the ten most interesting things about me, which will now suffice as my Top Ten Tuesday entry as well.

Without further ado, The Once Lost Wanderer:

Is ambidextrous…in his elbows

Once stopped George Clooney from entering an awards ceremony, straightened his tie, and patted George on the cheek. George said thanks.

Knows how many licks it takes to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll Tootsie Pop. It isn’t three.

Once called Vladimir Putin “Sparky”

Was invited to participate in a new Olympic competition called simply “Excellence” but the event was cancelled when the world’s nations ceded victory to the Wanderer.

Has never been to IKEA

Gave Patrick Stewart the following career advice…”enunciate”

Can eat just one Lays potato chip

Once composed the most poignant, witty, and uplifting social media post ever, but deleted it before posting, knowing that somewhere it was some young woman’s wedding day, and people at the wedding would certainly be talking about the post, along with the rest of the world. Didn’t want to detract from her big day.

And finally, I don’t always drink beer, but when I do, I prefer to have Chuck Norris serve me.

As a bonus, ten more things about the Wanderer (these are true).

I’ve been to all four Disney Theme Parks: California, Florida, Tokyo, and Paris. (This was prior to 2005 and the opening of Hong Kong or Beijing in 2016)

I’ve seen the Northern Lights and the Southern Cross

I used to work 700 feet underground

I picked the Superfecta in the 2015 Kentucky Derby

I can explain why the sky is blue

I read a novel in one sitting at the Library of Congress. Read about it HERE

I’ve crossed the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans

I’ve received two honorable mentions in the prestigious Bulwer-Lytton Fiction Contest. Read about it HERE

Has a career experience in common with authors: Muriel Spark, W. Somerset Maugham, Evelyn Waugh, Anthony Burgess, Kurt Vonnegut, J.D. Salinger, and possibly also with Ernest Hemingway and John Steinbeck (unsubstantiated with these last two)

I’ve read War and Peace AND Ulysses. I tried to see if I could find stats to say what percentage of the World’s population has read either. I didn’t, but I suspect it is less than 1%. Then the percentage that has read both…well how knows? Anyway, I’m claiming it is a pretty exclusive club.

Cheers

  1. Ah yes, but have you seen any C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate like replicant Roy Baty, or attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion? When you do, I'll consider voting for you.

Just kidding, you have my vote!

    1. Well Baty lost a little cred with me and that whole attack ships on fire thing. Things don't burn in space. Thanks for the vote though. Together we'll make Dos Equis Great Again!
